Gotu Kola acts as a systemic anti-inflammatory and is an important medicine for auto-immune conditions. It strengthens connective tissue and is indicated for connective tissue disorders and red, inflammed, skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and leprosy. It is a traditional Ayurvedic “brain tonic” that increases oxygen flow and circulation to the brain,  feet, and hands. Gotu Kola can also used for varicose veins. It Topically it is used to prevent scarring from burns and surgery.
