Traditional Information*

A popular Chinese herb that revitalizes and moves blood (xue). Because of this activitiy it is often used for female reproductive problems such as fibroids, ovarian cysts, menopausal discomfort, PMS, amenorrhea and dysmenorrhea. It is also useful for menstrual or menopausal constipation. Dong Quai is a common ingredient in Chinese formulas for cardiac problems such as angina and mild congestive heart failure (used with Chinese Salvia, Astragalus, and Tienchi).
