Sarsaparilla contains steroidal saponins which are anti-inflammatory. It is used for skin conditions that are red, hot and inflamed such as psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. It is also appropriate for arthritis, gout, bursitis, colitis, rheumatoid arthritis and inflammation of connective tissue. Sarsaparilla binds endotoxins in the gut, thus reducing metabolic wastes.
