A little known herb in the West, but is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for liver fire rising symptoms (red eyes, headaches, dizziness) and to clear heat and dissolve nodules. This latter use stems from Self Heal’s effects as a lymphatic tonic used for swollen glands, lipomas and mastitis (use with Figwort). It is an antiviral agent, anti-inflammatory, and astringent used for herpes lesions, pyorrhea, and sore throats.
